A man faces felony DUI charges after crashing his car and severely injuring his passenger, according to San Diego police.

The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. Monday in the 6200 block of Parkside Avenue in Paradise Hills.

Officials say a Honda Civic lost control around a slight curve, hit a parked BMW and then crashed into a short wall outside a home.

Firefighters had to rescue the driver and his passenger, who were trapped inside the car. Both men were taken to the hospital. No one in the neighborhood was injured.

San Diego police are investigating. The driver’s name has not been released.
