Chinese Exchange Student Drowns at Host Parents' House in Anaheim

The teenager was taken to a hospital but died shortly after arriving

A 16-year-old Chinese exchange student drowned in his host parents’ pool while swimming with a group of people in Anaheim Wednesday night.

Police and firefighters responded to the 800 block of West North Street affter receiving reports of a drowning.

After some of the swimmers got out of the pool, they went back to check on the exchange student. He was found unresponsive.

The teen was taken to a hospital in critical condition but died shortly after arriving, officials said.

The death was being considered an accident and no arrests were made, according to Lt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department. His name was not being released by police.
