Nine people aboard a distressed boat have been found safe in Mexico after the U.S. Coast Guard launched a widespread search for them Sunday morning.
Officials say they received a distress call around 8:15 a.m., reporting that a 30-foot white vessel had capsized.
The boat had reportedly set off from La Playa near the U.S.-Mexico border.
Rescuers launched a helicopter to search from Mission Beach to the border, and an 87-foot Coast Guard cutter also joined the hunt.
Around 11 a.m., the vessel was found on a beach about a half mile south of Tijuana, Coast Guard officials say. All those on board were accounted for and safe.
Mexican authorities will now work to get everyone back home.
