Deputies arrested a man on suspicion of animal cruelty and negligent discharge of a firearm after a video was posted to social media allegedly showing him shooting a dog to death Saturday.
Christopher Samuel, 54, was taken into custody Saturday after the incident on Friday.
Deputies arrived at the home at 3:30 p.m. in the 17500 block of Park Street in unincorporated Mead Valley after multiple calls came into the station reporting gunshots and found a dead dog on a residential property, Riverside County Sheriff's Perris Station confirmed.
Deputies served a search warrant on Saturday at Samuel's home before he was taken into custody.
Alexis Lemmon, the daughter of the dog owner, posted a video of the incident on Saturday morning, according to published reports. The footage shows a man shooting a dog with a rifle in his front yard on Clark Street, a residential area.
Michael Lemmon, the dog's owner, claimed that his neighbor shot his dog after it wandered into his front yard. According to published reports, the family has had ongoing disputes with the neighbor.
