Girl Pours Hot Coffee on Man Attempting to Sexually Attack Her

A girl walking to school fought off a man who attempted to attack her while making lewd comments by pouring hot coffee on his face, the El Monte Police Department said in the search for the attacker Wednesday.

The girl was walking to school on Mildred Street and Granada Avenue on Monday at 7 a.m. when a man, between 30 and 40 years old, approached her.

She said the man began saying sexually explicit comments to her and grabbed her, according to police.

"He groped her in her private areas," Lt. Ben Lowry said.

The girl then fought the predator off by pouring hot coffee on his face, police said.

"The little girl -- good for her -- she threw some hot coffee on him and he left," Lowry said.

The man took off heading north on Lexington Avenue to Asher Street.

Police were searching for the man, and released a sketch.

He was described as a man with black hair, dark-colored eyes, weighing about 160 pounds and measuring 5-feet 7-inches tall.

Anyone with information on the attacker is encouraged to call the El Monte Police Department at 626-580-2114.
