Humboldt Fire Crews Save Marijuana Harvest

Firefighters safely rescue marijuana from a drying-room fire

Firefighters in Humboldt County responding to reports of a blaze earlier this week at what turned out to be a marijuana drying room saved some of the plants from being incinerated.

The cannabis, which appeared to be grown legally, as well as a dog were rescued, according to the Lost Coast Outpost.

Firefighters in oxygen masks and full gear could be seen neatly stacking armloads of drying marijuana after emerging from the home in Redway.

The fire apparently started when a fan in use in the drying room, a necessary component of any cannabis-growing operation, malfunctioned, the website reported.

Firefighters entering the drying room had to remove the marijuana from their path, and in doing so, they neatly spread it out on a tarp outside.

A fire official said, while he is no expert on the drug, he was told that the salvaged marijuana was in fact still usable.
