The woman who filmed the playing of a song which mocked the death of Michael Brown at a Los Angeles charity event has revealed she found the stunt "disgusting."
A Los Angeles Police Department investigation was launched after it emerged the parody of Jim Crocce's hit "Bad, Bad LeRoy Brown," called "Dead, Dead Michael Brown," was played at a fundraiser organized by retired LAPD Detective Joe Myers earlier this month at the Glendale Elks Lodge.
The person who brought the matter to the attention of the public said she could not believe her ears when it played.
"I think it's deplorable that anybody would feel OK mocking the situation. Making light of it or making the police officer out to be a folk hero," said the woman, who wished to remain anonymous. "It's disgusting. It's disgusting. It's mortifying."
She decided to record the song playing when she realized what was coming through the speakers.
"I recognized the song. I thought I heard them say Michael Brown instead of LeRoy Brown," she said.
And while she said she believes in free speech, she said the media storm that erupted in light of her recording makes people think about their actions.

"With the Michael Brown case we're led to believe everyone is taking it seriously. That song shows otherwise," she said. "An unarmed child was shot. Deadly force was used against someone that didn't have a gun."
A Glendale Elks Club spokesman called the song inappropriate and apologized, pointing out it was not an official event of their organization.
