“Turn Yourself In”: Family of Jack in the Box Employee Killed Speaks Out

"Turn yourself in," urged the slain employee's uncle.

The family of a Jack in the Box employee shot and killed during an attempted robbery is urging the shooter to come forward as they remember a "hard-working" young man.

Juan Vidal, 25, died after being shot when a man wearing a Halloween mask entered the restaurant, jumped the counter and fired before running off empty-handed.

Vidal had recently gotten engaged.

"I lost everything," Juliana Sasaki, the victim's fiance, said at a vigil on Saturday.

Sasaki told NBC4 that Vidal was looking forward to leaving his job and finding work as a pharmacist.

Patsy Acosta, the victim's aunt, was still in shock as she drove in from Bakersfield after learning that her nephew, nicknamed 'Boo,' was gone.

"It's hard. It's scary," Acosta said. "You wait for your son or daughter to come home. Look what happens."

Investigators say Vidal was shot at least once in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The gunman was last seen walking north on Flair Drive. Detectives believe he may have gotten into a car near the drive thru, where surveillance cameras were rolling.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's investigators are reviewing surveillance video, but they have no further information on the suspect.

Acosta's friends and family are devastated.

Jessie Rodriguez, Acosta's uncle, had one message for the gunman who killed his nephew: "Turn yourself in."
