Killers Sought in Fatal Shooting of Man Crossing Out Gang Graffiti in Compton

Sheriff's homicide detectives are searching for two suspects who chased down and fatally shot a man witnesses say was crossing out gang graffiti in Compton Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred in the 1600 block of Largo Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. when the passenger in a black car chased the victim but was unable to catch up to him, witnesses told the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The driver then accelerated towards the victim and caught up to him, firing two rounds through the front passenger side window and striking the victim in the upper torso, deputies said.

The victim, described as a male hispanic in his 20s by the LA County coroner's office, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe the shooting is gang-related.
