Man Beaten While Dressed as Mascot Gets $10.5 Million Settlement

A jury has awarded a California man $10.5 million in a settlement that was reached for the beating he received at a school pep rally. Mitchell Carter was stuck at the bottom of a dog pile, being repeatedly punched and kicked in the head and side, after allegedly wearing a rival school's mascot uniform to the event in December 2010.

Doctors diagnosed Carter with a mild traumatic brain injury, as well as damage to his frontal lobe in connection with the beating. "I would trade everything to have a full functioning brain," Carter said.
