Mother's Boyfriend Arrested in Death of Missing Girl, 6

Sacramento County authorities say their search for a missing 6-year-old girl has turned into a homicide investigation.

The Sheriff's Department on Saturday announced that they believe the burned body of a child discovered in a rural area about 100 miles north of Sacramento belonged to Jadianna Larsen.

Detectives arrested the 25-year-old boyfriend of the girl's mother on a murder charge on Saturday. They identified the man, Juan Rivera, as Jadianna's caretaker and said he reported the girl missing on Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies and volunteers had been searching for the girl since then. The Sheriff's Department says Rivera told them before his arrest that he woke to find Jadianna missing from her apartment after he experienced a medical emergency.

Authorities say they are not providing more details until the body undergoes identity confirmation and evidence tests at a county crime lab.
