Happy 113th birthday, Opal Thompson.
California's official oldest person rang in her birthday on Monday surrounded by family, friends and staff from her home at the Diamond Ridge Healthcare Center nursing home -- along with "three dozen roses" from her friend, television's Dr. Phil, according to the Contra Costa Times.
Opal, who claimed the title of oldest Californian when 114-year old Soledad Mexia of Chula Vista passed away last Aug. 30, was born Jan. 13, 1901 in Oklahoma -- called "Indian Territory
then -- and worked as a waitress and "in a health food store," the newspaper reported.
She credits prayer, not smoking, eating healthy foods and a "glass of red wine before dinner" as some of her secrets to longevity.
She is the 10th-oldest person in the United States -- and the 15th-oldest person in the world, according to the newspaper.
