Reward Offered in Stabbing of ‘Sweet-Natured' Dog

The dog, named T-Rex, was stabbed at least five times in the head, neck and chest

A $2,000 reward for information was offered in the Ventura County case of a dog found in the street with several stab wounds.

The 2-year-old American Staffordshire terrier was found Friday in a pool of blood on a Santa Paula street. A couple brought the injured dog to Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center (SPARC), where staff members stopped the bleeding and treated the dog's chest, head and neck wounds.

The dog, named T-Rex, was stabbed at least five times, including once in the ear. He was sedated after arriving at the hospital and given several blood transfusions, according to staff members who described T-Rex as "sweet-natured" and "friendly."

Police described the attack as a "heinous" act of animal cruelty.

No major organs were damaged in the attack near 14th and Saticoy streets.

The owners told authorities the attack occurred when no one was at the home.They are cooperating with the investigation, according to SPARC.
