Driver, Passenger Pull Woman by Her Hair in Road Rage Attack Caught on Camera

The women accused Tenecia Bennet of cutting them off before the attack.

Police were investigating a suspected road rage attack involving a driver and her passenger who assaulted a ride-share driver at a West Los Angeles gas station in an incident caught on camera.

Tenicia Bennett, who's a driver for Lyft, had just dropped off a customer and was getting gas Sunday at an Arco station at South La Brea Avenue and Olympic Boulevard when a driver and her passenger assaulted her, accusing Bennett of cutting them off.

A witness who shot cellphone video of the assault said two women suddenly throttled Bennet. One woman wearing dark clothing starts throwning punches and another woman in a red dress pulls Bennet by her hair.

Bennet is screaming as witnesses try to break up the fight. The women fight them off and take Bennet's phone, wallet and a cashier's check for thousands of dollars in rent.

"I am just so glad I am not dead," Bennet told NBC4 on Friday.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident, which they said appears to be a case of road rage that escalated into physical rage and robbery.

An Uber sticker could be seen on the women's car, but the company told NBC4 it was registered to a man whose account has been inactive for months.

Bennet was injured -- physically and emotionally -- after the ordeal.

"I can't work, I can't do Lyft. It traumatized me," she said.  "They took my stuff, they have all my information. What do I do?"

Lyft spokesman Scott Coriell released a statement to NBC4 on Friday in response to the attack:

"This video is shocking and frightening. There is no place for such violence in our society. Our thoughts are with Tenicia as she recovers from this terrible ordeal. We stand ready to assist law enforcement in any investigation."
