YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) - Rangers at Yosemite National Park are searching for a Minnesota man who is missing after going on a day hike.
Park officials said Monday that 73-year-old Kenneth Stensby, of Edina, Minn., was staying at Yosemite's landmark Ahwahnee Hotel, but left a note there Sunday morning saying he was hiking to Vernal Fall and expected to be back by noon. He never returned, and his backpack was found at the lookout point at the top of the waterfall.
The U.S. Park Service described Stensby as an avid hiker.
About 30 people and a search dog team were looking for him on Monday.
Park officials are asking visitors who have been hiking near Vernal Fall to check any photographs they might have taken for Stensby's image.
