Groper Targets Women Who Are Wearing Workout Clothes, Yoga Pants: Police

Police Wednesday sought a teenage boy suspected of targeting and groping women from behind in numerous incidents in Upland.

The teen, who is estimated to be 13 to 18 years old, targeted women in up to four reported incidents near the 1600 block of Mountain Avenue and in one incident near the 1500 block of West 15th Street, according to the Upland Police Department.

The attacks have occurred on Tuesday, Wednesday and twice on Saturday in the late afternoon or early evening hours. The teen would quietly approach women in their 30's who wear workout clothes and yoga pants from behind and touch their hips and buttocks, police said.

He would then run to a BMX-style bicycle and ride away, police said.

"The fact that he made me feel I can't leave my house is upsetting," one victim told NBC4.

The teen is described as a thin, white or Latino male with dark brown cropped hair and stands about 5 feet, 6 inches tall. There is a rectangular rear reflector on the back of his BMX-style bike. Clothing descriptions have varied among attacks, but he was wearing a camoflauge-style hoodie in one incident.

"Since he's grabbing an intimate part of a person, now it becomes sexual battery and could potentially lead to be sex registrant," said Marcelo Blanco of the Upland Police Department.
