Volunteers Help Prepare Floats for New Year's Day Rose Parade

Thousands of volunteers joined artists on Sunday to help decorate floats for the upcoming New Year's Day Rose Parade.

In Irwindale, where 11 of the 48 floats were being constructed, kids and families had the chance to affix thousands of flowers and floral arrangements on the floats.

Artists are working around the clock in anticipation for the parade on Friday - a task that requires more than 10,000 cumulative hours for completion, organizers said. Each of the floats are worth an estimated $250,000.

The lineup includes floats for Miracle-Gro, Kaiser Permanente, city of Torrance, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Kiehl's Since 1851, Northwestern Mutual, The Bachelor, the Royal Court and Dole Packaged Foods.

The 127th Rose Parade will be held on New Year's Day in downtown Pasadena.

This year's theme is "Find Your Adventure."
