Blaze Erupts in Downtown LA Drug Lab: LAFD

The fire was knocked down in less than 15 minutes

A blaze that erupted in a six-story downtown Los Angeles building Thursday night was inside an apartment with a drug lab and marijuana growing operation, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire broke out about just after 8:15 p.m. in a third-floor residence in the 500 block of S. San Pedro Street near Sixth Street, LAFD officials said.

Fire officials said the residence was "reported to houe a drug lab/marijuana growing operation." The blaze was knocked down in less than 15 minutes.

LAPD and LAFD hazmat crews were sent to the scene. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.
