Highway 50 Closed Due to Fire in South Lake Tahoe

A new fire broke out Thursday night in South Lake Tahoe.

Nearly 100 acres have burned on both sides of Highway 50. The highway remains closed due to the forest fire. 

Firefighters are battling the flames near Sly Park Road and West of Meyers which were only five percent contained Friday morning.

California Highway Patrol, South Lake Tahoe said on Twitter that there are no estimates as to when US-50 will reopen.
