‘Twilight's' Jackson Rathbone Goes Black Metal

Jackson Rathbone will be sinking his teeth into a new role as a rocker, according to a new report.

The actor, best known for his role as Jasper Hale in the "Twilight Saga," will reportedly appear in "Lords of Chaos" as former Burzum frontman, Varg Vikernes, in a film chronicling the Norwegian black metal band and music subculture, according to Rolling Stone.

The film, based on the book by the same name, will be directed by Sion Sono, and will focus on the early 1990s black metal subculture, according to Blabbermouth.net.

Rathbone, who plays the most volatile "Twilight" vampire in the Cullen family, will make a shift from one dark character to another in "Lords of Chaos."

Vikernes is currently serving time for the 1993 murder of fellow musician Oystein Aarseth, the guitarist of the Norwegian band, "Mayhem." In addition, he also set fire to three churches, Rolling Stone reported.

Vikernes, himself, has not given his support to the project. In 2004, he posted his grievances with the book on the "Burzum" website, calling it "a pool of mud."

The film starts production this September in Norway.
