"Every year, in cities around the world, people ride bikes naked to celebrate cycling and the human body." So declares the Web site for the World Naked Bike Ride, which is coming to San Francisco this Saturday.

The ride began in 2004 as a protest against cars, by exposing the "indecent exposure of people and the planet" to accidents and pollution.

Of course, in San Francisco, hating cars and riding your bike around naked is called "Tuesday." Or, more predictably, the last Friday of the month when cyclists in the buff invariably turn out for Critical Mass.

Rides are also planned in Los Angeles for the same day, and Berkeley the following Saturday.

The San Francisco ride will begin at Justin Herman Plaza at the end of Market Street on the Embarcadero around noon. Just try not to get to close to the produce at the Farmer's Market. Please.

And don't worry -- scantily clad riders won't be turned away for lack of butt crack.

Jackson West laugh when he saw a ride scheduled for Burning Man, like they need an excuse for more nudity.
