The Big Green Bus found its way to the San Francisco zoo.
Most people head to the zoo to see the wild life, but it will have a green feel to it this Sunday. The "Big Green Bus" will be parked out front. It is the brain child of students of Dartmouth College students.
In call, 15 students are spending their summer vacation traveling the country showing off their creation.
The "Big Green Bus" is motor coach that has been retrofitted to run on discarded vegetable oil. Students say "think leftover french fry grease."
The bus will be on display from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This is the fifth year the bus has gone on tour, putting it in the realm of some popular rock bands.
Yes, if you find yourself traveling behind it this week, you will probably also find yourself pulling off at the next exit after smelling the greasy exhaust in search of the closest fast food drive through.
Along with its specially-modified grease engine, the bus is also equipped with solar panels and its interior is completely constructed out of sustainable materials.
Students say it is a state-of-the-art green mobile classroom for sustainable living.
The students' 12,000 mile trip will cover 40 states. This stop is basically the half way point as they travel from New Hampshire to California and back.
While in the Bay Area they plan to hold meetings with Bay Area companies such as Tesla Motors, SunPower and Google in an effort to spread their message of all things green.
