Birth Control Pills Recalled: Faulty Packaging

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals recalls six forms of birth control in blister packs

Some women may be at risk for an unplanned pregnancy because of faulty birth control pill packaging.

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals is recalling several lots of oral contraceptives because of a packaging error.

The blister packs were rotated 180 degrees, changing the order in which women take their pills.

The company says taking them in the wrong order doesn't pose any health risks, but might leave women unprotected against pregnancy.

Women affected by the recall should use a non-hormonal form of birth control immediately and consult their health care provider or pharmacist.

Pharmacists are being asked to contact women who've received the affected products.

The company is currently investigating the source of the packaging error.

The affected products are: Cyclafem, Emoquette, Gildess, Orsythia, Previfem and Tri-Previfem.
