Additional Quakes Hit Bay Area

The quake struck at 4:10 p.m.

UPDATE: Two small earthquakes hit Northern California Sunday morning. A 3.0 magnitude quake hit the San Martin area,  about 25 miles south of San Jose, and a smaller 2.0 magnitude earthquake bumped the area north of Sacramento.

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck near San Jose at 4:10 p.m.

The epicenter was in the mountains near Mount Hamilton, about 13 miles east-southeast of San Jose City Hall and about 11 miles north of Morgan Hill, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake struck along the Calaveras Fault and had a 4.4 mile depth. Shaking lasted for about 10 seconds and was strong enough to be felt in San Francisco 60 miles north. Check out this shake map to see the quake's intensity around the Bay Area.

There was also a 2.6 magnitude aftershock, followed by a 2.1 aftershock.

Police have not received any calls for service and no major damage has been reported.

"No damage here, just a little shake and rock and roll," @mikekawahara in San Jose tweeted. "The kind of quake that the kids like to feel."

Coincidentally, a 4.2 magnitude quake hit the south bay on the same day last year.
