Those who miss the days when rock music flourished in San Francisco's North Beach district will be able to relive part of that history when Fog Rising, an all new event, takes place this Saturday, Nov. 7, at Broadway Studios.

Fog Rising organizer, Justin McNeal, says the multimedia music and arts show may start in San Francisco but his poster company, Secret Serpents, is considering taking it to other cities. "San Francisco is rich in culture. North Beach in general is rich in art history, so it's great to start something here, especially at this venue. It was (next to) the old Mab and it has a lot of history," says McNeal.

The music ranges from the folkish (bordering on hobbit rock) Imaad Wasif to the psychedelic metal of Witch, a band formed in 2006 by J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.) and Dave Sweetapple. Other bands, like locals Saviors and Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound,
both from the Tee Pee records roster, add to the thunder.

The art is of the rock poster variety -- that is, from the wave that has become so popular since the late 1980s.

"Alan Forbes has been a poster artist for well over 20 years and is most notable for his work with the Black Crowes, but has worked with tiny punk bands to creating the most recent AC/DC world tour art," says McNeal. "David D'Andrea works with local bands Sleep and Om. Marq Spusta is our newest artist and has worked most recently with Dinosaur jr. Alan Hines has worked with Witch, Dinosuar Jr. and Mudhoney."

So if you're got the $16.50 (service sharge included) and you're ready to stroll through San Francisco's North Beach district on a Saturday, the fog will rise.

Complete lineup: Witch, Saviours, Night Horse, Red Fang, Ancestors, Black Math Horseman, Lecherous Gaze, Imaad Wasif & Two Part Beast, Jason Simon, and Citadelle.
