Dozens Displaced by Sunnyvale Fire

The American Red Cross is providing shelter to dozens of residents who were displaced by a three-alarm fire that tore through a two-story apartment complex in Sunnyvale this morning.
The Silicon Valley chapter of the Red Cross is considering opening a shelter at Washington Park for those whose homes were damaged by the blaze at the Radcliffe Apartments, located about a block from City Hall at 366 W. Olive Ave.
The fire was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. and was controlled by about 11:25 a.m., Capt. Doug Moretto said.
Volunteers are providing food, shelter, and emotional support to 25 to 30 displaced residents. They are meeting with the residents in a classroom on the second floor of the Quilting Bee at 480 S. Mathilda Ave.
Residents affected by the fire may call (877) 727-6771 for assistance.
Moretto said investigators are focusing on a kitchen in a second-floor apartment, where someone was cooking in a pan this morning. The fire spread through the building and caused the roof to partially collapse.
No injuries were reported.
The Santa Clara, Santa Clara County, and Mountain View fire departments assisted.
