Months after she emerged from an East Bay property where she had been held for the past 18 years, there's word that kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard is living in the same neighborhood.
Sources helping the family told the Contra Costa Times that Dugard and her two daughters are living in a safe house within miles of Nancy and Phillip Garrido's Antioch home, where she was held captive in a backyard compound for most of her life.
Donations from East Bay Fellowship have been helping them pay for the house for the past few months, the paper reports. Leaders of the Danville church specialize in helping victims of human trafficking reintegrate into society.
The church collected about $13,000 worth of cash and furniture and church members have also donated jewelery to sell but the family still needs more financial help.
"People think once your name is out there you get paid," the fellowship's Associate Pastor, Mari Hanes, told the paper, "but unless you have (attorneys) to broker a deal for you, that's really not the case," Hanes said.
