A flu vaccine shortage forced health officials in Napa County to cancel two upcoming vaccination clinics.

The Napa County Public Health Division will now have six instead of eight clinics and they blame a temporary shortage of seasonal flu vaccine.

The planned Oct. 5 clinic in Calistoga and another one at the Angwin clinic on Oct. 14 are no longer an option for people who want to get the flu shot.   They will be rescheduled if enough vaccine becomes available at a later date.

Also, a clinic in Yountville has been rescheduled for Oct. 14.

"We were very pleased at the turnout at our late September clinics in St. Helena, Napa and Berryessa," said County Public Health Officer Karen Smith. “We had nearly double our estimated number of attendees, which is great for controlling flu in our community. but difficult in terms of planning. We expect to receive more vaccine the week of Oct. 5 and will resume a modified clinic schedule after that. We regret any inconvenience.”

Public health departments all over the country are seeing delays in receiving seasonal flu vaccine. The delays are hitting California especially hard.

If you want a flu shot, you only have two guaranteed options. One clinic will be held on Oct. 12 at the Olympia Mobilodge and another on Oct. 14 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Yountville.
