The hot weather continues today and  the National Weather Service to issue a warning to people  who are sensitive to excessive heat conditions.

The temperature in cities like Morgan Hill and Livermore could continue in the triple digits,  with temperatures in the high 90s  expected throughout the inland regions of the North Bay, East Bay and South Bay.

The high temperatures prompted the weather service to issue an excessive heat warning for people in the Santa Clara Valley.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued a Spare the Air Day for today.

The warning is targeted at groups like the elderly, young, or the infirmed, who may be more sensitive to heat.

San Jose is opening the city's 10 designated cooling centers in response to the heat warning. The centers will be open from noon to 8 p.m. today for residents seeking a comfortable alternative to heat  exposure.

For more information on the cooling centers or their locations, contact Mona Favorite-Hill at (408) 793-5589.

The weather service has also issued a heat advisory for the interior valleys of the North Bay and East Bay.

The weather service encourages Bay Area residents to wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and to wear a hat to guard against  excessive heat exposure.
