San Francisco's tech-savvy mayor is having technical problems.

It appears Gavin Newsom's new $3 million Ashbury Heights home is in a cell phone dead zone.

Since he and his wife moved into their new pad in June, he has had two calls to a radio show get dropped, according to our friends at the Examiner.

Newsom's gadgets are about as ubiquitous as his hairdo. He even used Twitter to toss his hat into the ring, announcing in less than 140 characters that he would run for governor.

After all, Newsom kept in constant contact with his staff during a planned vacation to Hawaii after the Cosco Busan oil spill in 2007 via his personal cell phone. Two months later, he manned the City from Hawaii over cell contact when news of a fatal tiger mauling at the San Francisco Zoo broke.

His staff says they can't remember Newsom ever owning a traditional land line. His communications director, Nathan Ballard said he hasn't had problems contacting his boss.

Amping up power to the cell service on hills above Haight Street street would require a permit from Planning Department for AT&T's microcell tower.
