Menlo Park police are crediting a quick-thinking woman for cracking a crime spree in their city.

They say a woman noticed a man inside her vehicle and called police.  The man ran off before police could arrive, but officers were able to quickly set up a dragnet of sorts in the area and soon found a man hiding on Middlefield Road at Santa Margarita Ave.

The woman who put in the original call along with another witness identified the man as the person who had broken into the car.

Police arrested the suspect, identified as Luis Cabrera.

They say Cabrera had numerous cell phones, GPS devices, burglary tools, credit cards, sunglasses and electronic equipment.

The items belong to victims from Menlo Park, Palo Alto and Redwood City.

Some of the property had been reported stolen, but not all of it according to police.

Police say a search of Cabrera's home found more stolen property. He is also suspected of stealing two vehicles out of Menlo Park.

Menlo Park police say they think this arrest will help close a string of  Willows-area auto burglary and thefts.

In the press release, police specifically thanked people who live in the Willows neighborhood for their help and "vigilance" in helping them catch the suspect.
