Mike Lombardi Says Palmer Won't Land in San Francisco

The NFL Networks' Mike Lombardi was interviewed by Jed York as a possible general manager candidate.

While the former Raiders' executive was ultimately not given the job, he has some connection to 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and knows a thing or two about personnel.

That's why it's interesting when Lombardi goes on the air and says the 49ers should make a call to see if they can acquire Cincinnati Bengal's quarterback Carson Palmer but that ultimately he won't be traded.

Lombardi says he believes the Bengals owners Mike Brown when he says he won't trade his franchise quarterback.

"If we want to play the game, look for the San Francisco 49ers to make a call," he said but he stressed that he doesn't think Palmer will go anywhere.

"I stress this strongly, Mike Brown is a man of his word," he said. "When he says he's not going to do something, he's not going to do it."
