A Mountain View man who is accused of murdering three of his coworkers after he was fired from his job is not likely to receive the death penalty.

Jing Hua Wu, 47, was charged with three counts of murder after reportedly going on a shooting rampage on November 14, 2008 at Santa Clara’s SiPort, which produces high-definition radio chips.

Among those murdered November 8 were SiPort CEO Sid Agrawal, 56, of Fremont; vice president of operations Brian Pugh, 47, of Los Altos; and human resources manager Marilyn Lewis, 67, of San Jose.

Santa Clara Count District Attorney Dolores Carr announced Thursday that she would not seek the death penalty, determining it would be an inappropriate sentence, after carefully reviewing the case.

"While this case involves the murder of three innocent victims, we took into consideration the feelings of the victims' families, the defendant's lack of criminal history prior to the murders, and the likelihood of a jury returning a death verdict against the defendant," Carr said in a statement.

Wu faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
