NorCal Serial Killer's Home Gets New Owner

The former Sacramento home of serial killer Dorothea Puente has been sold.

Barbara Holmes and Tom Williams paid $215,000 for the duplex where in 1988 police found seven bodies buried in the yard.

"It's a beautiful home," Holmes said.

The home, located at 1426 F St., was on the auction block this past weekend.

Puente used the home as boarding house for elderly tenants. She was convicted of killing three of them. Prosecutors said Puente drugged tenants, stole money from them and killed him.

Holmes said she is well aware of the home's notorious past, adding that she is not frightened.

"We do think we can overcome the stigma," she said.

Holmes said she plans to bring her mother to stay in the home with her.

Williams said he a fan of mystery stories and looks forward to living there.

"It's like creepy in a good way to me," he said. "It's interesting."

Others have lived in the home since Puente.

The home went on sale in February.
