San Jose Police said Thursday morning they found the body of a woman outside a Planned Parenthood in the Alum Rock area.

At about 6:30 a.m. officers said they responded to a "person down" call at the building on the 3100 block of Alum Rock Avenue in San Jose. Officers said they found the woman laying in front of the entrance. They said they did not believe the woman was homeless.

Officers said it did not appear foul play was involved.

Police said the case is not connected to Planned Parenthood.

"Planned Parenthood has northing to do with this," Officer Jermaine Thomas said. "It's just a pure coincidence."

They pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Officers specifically said that the woman appeared not to have been killed, then dumped at the building. Officers said the woman had no signs of injury.

The scene is still under investigation, officers said. The Planned Parenthood was closed at the time.

The facility provides abortion services, birth control services, LBGT services, men's health services, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, HIV testing, STD testing and treatment, women's health services, and HPV and hepatitis vaccines.

Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Christina Lokke said the incident is unfortunate but confirmed that the death was not related to the clinic.

"The clinic is now open and seeing patients," Lokke said. "Our patients should feel comfortable coming to our clinic."

"Our sympathy goes out to the family for their loss," Lokke said.
