Pebble Beach Debuts New Ad Space

Golfer John Daly has a new way to earn money on the links

One of the country's most recognized golfers has found a new way to make money while on the links.

Pro John Daly debuted a new golf bag at Pebble Beach this week. It comes with a built in flat screen monitor.

This isn't a TV. The PGA has strict rules against that. The screen displays advertisments, both video and still, for extra ad dollars for Daly and his new partner ProBagAds.com. It's a fully sun readable (no reflection issues) HD billboard for the folks who tend to clamor around the golfers.

The Associated Press picked up the story Friday.

When asked about it, Daly said the ProBagAds.com component only adds about three extra pounds for his caddy.

It is WiFi capable. For that reason Daly said he has hopes he will be able to find a way to get it to play video like his smartphone. Daly told AP he wants to be able to watch the NFL while playing in tournaments overseas. Just don't tell the PGA.

Actor and comedian Bill Murray compared the bag to Rodney Dangerfield's in Caddyshack. That one had a radio and some very loud speakers. But that was so 1980s.
