Sports writers are having all kinds of fun with a parlor game guessing whether Tom Cable will still be coaching the Raiders when they play their next game, Sunday November 15 against the Chiefs.

Running back Darren McFadden has far better odds of being an Oakland Raider that afternoon. The Oakland Tribune reports that McFadden has been working out with Raiders trainers since Friday, and is planning to return after the Raiders' bye week in time for the Chiefs game.

"That’s what we’re shooting for. We’re pushing for it," McFadden told the Tribune, when asked if he'd be ready for action in the Raiders' next contest.

McFadden wasn't running full-speed, but he's able to do everything else. "We went out there today and worked on cuts. I was kind of winded,” McFadden said to the Tribune. “That was one of the main things, see if I can get out there and do a little running around and get good footing."

Boy, do the Raiders need him back. The Little Man is snoozing in the assessment of the Raiders' offense in today's Raiders Report Card in the Chronicle. "The Raiders fell short of 200 yards (of total offense) for the fifth time in seven games," David White writes, "an unmatched run in franchise history."

So Darren McFadden may get a chance to stop the Raider offense's current historic run of badness. Whether Tom Cable will be his coach when he tries is still up in the air.

Joe Kukura is a freelance writer who is also not able to run at full speed.
