San Bruno Explosion Gets Capitol Hill's Attention

Last week's deadly explosion and fire in San Bruno is part of the focus of a hearing in Washington, D.C. this morning.

Members of the National Transportation Safety Board and DOT will take questions about the underground gas pipeline that ruptured in San Bruno last Thursday as part of a hearing focusing on the nation's infrastructure. Representative John Garamendi, a Democrat from Walnut Creek, will ask experts about the explosion.

The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure will be discussing a pipeline failure that happened in Michigan, resulting in a crude oil release into the Kalamazoo River. The San Bruno explosion is just part of that hearing.

The hearing will also focus on federal oversight of gas and hazardous liquid pipeline safety, according to the committee's website.
