San Quentin State Prison has put approximately 800 prisoners under quarantine after four inmates were diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, more commonly known as swine flu.

The quarantine was issued in four blocks of San Quentin’s Unit H, which houses minimum-security inmates. Inmates will not be allowed to have visitors.

Ten days from now, officials will know more about the state of the quarantine, as California Prison Health Care Services has reported that a total of 30 prisoners have now shown possible symptoms of swine flu, but won’t be able to confirm the symptoms for another ten days.
