Firefighters in San Francisco had their hands full Sunday fighting two large fires.

The biggest was a four-alarm fire at 1526 Wallace Ave. in the city's Bayview District.  That fire reportedly burned several warehouses.

The fire was first reported around 11 a.m., but crews were still dousing the flames at 5 p.m.

The structures included a cabinet and metal manufacturer.

The fire was contained by 8 p.m., but because it is at a large warehouse that might be unsafe to enter,  no fire crews were to go inside the building to extinguish the blaze.

"All we can do is put a lot of water on it until we get it out," Lt. Ken Smith said.

Marijuana was found growing in one of the buildings, and police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said the narcotics unit is investigating whether it is an illegal grow operation.

Crews faced a number of challenges, including the wind which hampered the fight.

Investigators say they don't know how the fire started.

Firefighters also controlled a three-alarm fire in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood Sunday afternoon.  They were able to get that fire under control in about a half hour.

The blaze was reported at 1:16 p.m. at 264 Frederick St., according to a police officer. It was under control at 1:46 p.m., according to a San Francisco Fire Department dispatcher.

No injuries were reported at either fire.
