The world-famous scent of rotting death will be in full bloom at a San Francisco university greenhouse beginning today.

San Francisco State University will have a specimen of the Titan Arum, or corpse flower, on public display today and Monday afternoon.

The massive flower, found in the wild in Indonesian rainforests, can reportedly grown up to 12 feet tall. It only blooms over a 24- to 48-hour period, and the pungent smell has been compared to that of a decaying mammal.

The public is invited to a free viewing and smelling of the flower from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today and Monday. The greenhouse is north of Hensill Hall on the university's main campus at Holloway and 19th avenues.
