San Jose Police Scoop Up Alleged ‘Neopolitan Bandits'

Two men are accused of carrying out several armed robberies over the past month.

Two San Jose men who seem to have a taste for ice cream have been arrested for allegedly carrying out at least seven armed robberies between March and April.

Robert Frank Gutierrez Jr., 18, and Miguel Ceja, 19, were arrested Wednesday in the area of McLaughlin Avenue and Capitol Expressway in San Jose.

The pair are believed to have robbed several "convenience type stores" by entering and picking up a Neopolitan flavored ice cream bar before pulling a handgun on a clerk and demanding money, according to San Jose police. Police say the men then hop over the counter and grab the money from the register before taking off.

Officers dubbed the men the "Neopolitan Bandits" because of their ice cream preference.
