2-Alarm Fire Contained in Fisherman's Wharf Neighborhood; Dog Dead

Firefighters have contained a two-alarm fire Friday morning that killed a dog in a three-story apartment building in the Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood of San Francisco, fire officials said.

The fire department initially reported the fire was on Bergen Alley, but clarified that the location is 812 Bay St.

The fire was reported at 9 a.m. and crews had it contained as of about 9:30 a.m.

"(I saw) just smoke coming out of the upper story, and then flames," said Mary Beth Marks, who called 911. "These are all wood buildings, and these guys [firefighters] are great. Amazing....We just watched them work. They're incredible."

The Red Cross is responding to the fire to help any displaced residents.
