2 Bay Area Students Finalists in National Science Competition

Months of dedication and hard work paid off tonight for two Bay Area students.

They were named national finalists in the Siemens Competition in math, science and technology.

Andrew Jin of San Jose and Steven Wang of Los Altos earned top team honors and a $6,000 scholarship for their research on a chemotherapy drug combination that could enhance cancer treatment.

The Harker School juniors are now invited to present their work at the national finals in Washington, D.C. in December.

They could win part of the $500,000 in scholarships that will be awarded.
