2 Shot in Walnut Creek After Gladys Knight Concert

Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting in Walnut Creek that sent two people to the hospital after they had just left the Concord Pavilion where Gladys Knight, The O'Jays, Freddie Jackson, Faith Evans, and the S.O.S. Band had been playing.

Police responded around 7:51 p.m. to Ygnacio Valley and Oak Grove roads after receiving numerous reports of shots fired into a car.

Witnesses told investigators two vehicles were driving west on Ygnacio Valley Road and approaching the red light at Oak Grove Road when the suspect's vehicle pulled up next to the victim, and the suspect fired several shots into the victim's front passenger window.

Police said the suspect then exited the vehicle and fired several more shots into the victim's vehicle, hitting the driver and a passenger.

Police said the victims were an adult male and an adult female, but their identities have not been released.

The victims were taken to a local hospital. Police did not have an update on their conditions.

The suspect, identified as a man in his early 20s and about 6 feet tall, fled the area in a light colored four-door sedan, according to police. He was wearing a black mask, T-shirt and jeans.

Police said a semi-automatic handgun was used in the shooting.
