3 Men Shot at San Jose Restaurant

Police say three people were shot at the Hoang Hon Bar & Restaurant on Alum Rock Avenue, near North Capitol Avenue.

There were more than a dozen people inside the cafe at the time of the shooting, around 10 p.m. Monday night.

One of those victims, a man in his 30s, later died from his injuries. The other two suffered injuries that are not considered life-threatening. They were treated at the hospital and later released.

"We’re reviewing some of the video footage, if any, and collecting some of the evidence and processing the scene," San Jose Police Sgt. Fabrice Bellini said Tuesday morning.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

At this point, the shooting appears to be random.

"From what we can tell early in the investigation is, they were just patrons inside the restaurant and somebody shot inside the business from outside,” San Jose Police Sgt. Heather Randol said.

Nearly a dozen bullet holes were clearly visible on the outside of the café Tuesday morning. Just inside the front door, a pool of blood was yet to be cleaned up.

This is San Jose's 31st homicide of the year.

Detectives are now looking for the shooter.
