A giant inflatable snowman has been deflated, and with it the spirit of Christmas for many in Pleasanton.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports the holiday decoration outside Johnny Moore's Christmas tree lot was given an ultimatum from the city: remove the snowman or face a fine.
For years the 30-foot tall Frosty the Snowman has greeted eager tree-shoppers at the lot.
But a new location this year also brought a visit from code enforcement officers, who warned of fines up to $750 a day if the snowman remained.
Frosty was taken down on Tuesday, but only due to windy conditions, Moore said. He plans to have the snowman back as soon as conditions permit.
The Chronicle reports Moore has agreed to get a permit for Frosty.
