4-Alarm Fire Burns South San Jose Grocery Store, Prompts Mobile Home Park Evacuations

Firefighters battled a four-alarm fire that burned a South San Jose grocery store early Sunday morning.

Crews responded to the fire at Cho Senter Foods, located at 2889 Senter Road, at 2:42 a.m., San Jose Fire Captain Mitch Matlow said.

The blaze was upgraded from a one-alarm to a four-alarm fire around 3:12 a.m., Matlow said.

The fire threatened a nearby mobile home park and firefighters ordered the residents to evacuate. But crews were able to contain the fire to the business and the mobile home park residents were able to return to their homes, according to Matlow.

As of 6 a.m., the fire was still actively burning, according to Matlow.

No one was inside the grocery store at the time of the fire and there have been no reports of any injuries, Matlow said, adding that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
