4.3 Magnitude Quake Hits off California Coast

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit about 39 miles southwest of Eureka at 9:25 a.m.

Authorities say there are no reports of damage after an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 hit off the coast of Northern California Sunday morning.

Initially, the USGS reported the quake as having a magnitude of 3.9.

A USGS seismologist says the quake was recorded in an area that is considered seismically active.
 
A Eureka police dispatcher said no calls came into the department about the quake, and that it was not felt at police headquarters.
