49ers First Pre-Season Game at Levi's Stadium Bring Excitement But Also Traffic

Heavy delays are anticipated on Highways 101, 237, 880, Lawrence Expressway, Great America Parkway and San Tomas Expressway, said the Santa Clara Police Department

The San Francisco 49ers is set to face the Dallas Cowboys at the first pre-season football game at Levi's Stadium Thursday night.

The first NFL game of the pre-season is surely bringing excitement to the Bay Area but the stadium is also expecting 60,000 people to attend the game at 7 p.m., bringing traffic to Santa Clara.

Heavy delays are anticipated on Highways 101, 237, 880, Lawrence Expressway, Great America Parkway and San Tomas Expressway, said the Santa Clara Police Department.

Tasman Drive is closed from Convention Center Drive to Centennial / Marie P DeBartolo Way on at 9:30am and will remained closed until after the game, police said. No parking will be allowed there.

Officials are encouraging football fans to take public transportation or ride-share instead of driving.

There will be check points to reduce traffic in residential neighborhoods at the following intersections:

  • Lafayette Street and Calle de Primavera 
  • Bassett Street and Wyatt Drive 
  • Agnew Road and Lafayette Street 
  • Agnew Road and Mission College Boulevard
